Sahin is a relatively young, dynamic flower seed company which was established in 1982 by Kees and Elisabeth Sahin with the foundation of proprietary varieties, privately bred by Kees Sahin.
Sahin receives International recognition in the flower seed trade as a supplier of novelties. With these Sahin not only offers alternative products to the customer,
but brings about a diversification in the industry and thus has become a trend setter to be followed.
After a prolonged illness Kees Sahin passed away in September 2006 A year later Elisabeth Sahin decided to sell the company to Takii & Co. Ltd. Japan. In August 2008 the head office of K. SAHIN, Zaden B.V. moved to the premises of Takii Europe B.V. in De Kwakel. Mrs Sahin will stay partly at the company as an consultant to the managing director Wim Nijssen of Takii Europe B.V., K. SAHIN, Zaden B.V. & Global Flowers in Denmark. |

| The picture shows one of our seed storage alleys in our warehouse, with eight tiers of shelves reaching to the roof. The new Sahin warehouse covers an area of about 1200 m² (= 12,000 square foot) of conditioned storage surface, ranging from cold to cool as the particular seeds require. |

Our state-of-the-art seed-cleaning line is one of the most complete anywhere. Capable of cleaning up to two tonnes of flower seed daily, it has one of the highest capacities in the industry. It offers the most specific techniques for
each crop we grow, from gravity-separation to colour-separation and from rubbing to polishing. All seed handling and storage activities, as well as our new shipping facilities, have been brought together under one roof, enabling us to provide optimal quality and service. Sahin currently produces the largest assortment of flower and ornamental seeds in the world, covering over 2000 kinds, most of which are the result of our own breeding and development. Production takes place in 17 countries in both hemispheres under the direct supervision of our highly experienced and dedicated staff. |  |
Sahin's Summer Trial Field | |

Sahin’s field trials present a unique experience of colour and scent, provided by the diversity of plants,
from all over the world, grown happily under the Dutch conditions. The Sahin trials are located on a five hectare site, close to the sea, below sea level, on the island of Tholen in the province of Zeeland. Here, in fertile day soil, we trial and test different genetics, experimental and commercial of both annuals and perennials. The 8000 lines of annuals are directly sown by Sahin personnel on a single day. The trials are also used for photography. Guiding customers through the trials, we hear their wishes and they have the opportunity to make selections of novelties, for their particular market. It is in the trials where a lot of new concepts and ideas are being conceived, such as Instant Perennials and the Designer Mixtures. Following the sowing, they receive no further care beyond the removal of weeds by Koos Neele and his team. |
